The World Premiere of "How Do You Know"

The World Premiere of "How Do You Know"
December 13, 2010 Mann Village Theater, Westwood, CA.

It has been quite sometime since James L. Brooks stepped behind a camera to direct a flick, the Adam Sandler dude "Spanglish" doesn't really count I guess. However the comedy ensemble from Columbia Pictures "How Do You Know" http://www.howdoyouknow-movie.com/  promises to delight unless you read the reviews; anywho this evening was a benefit for AFI http://www.afi.com/ which is always the kiss of death for us because guests have to pay for tickets and with celebrities being used to getting everything gratis they stay away and then it turns into a glorified cast and crew screening.

Well despite the less than stellar turnout we got ol' Jack on the red carpet, he doesn't do many red carpets these days and can be quite unpredictable in the posing department but I got lucky that evening and snagged Mr. Nicholson. Perhaps it was the fact that his daughter was just down the road a bit with the grand kids or it may have been a request from a photographer to get some photos of the classic wiseguy without his trademark sunglasses. He just gave the Cherish er cat grin and said "You must be new"

In addition to Jack Nicholson, who won two Oscars with James L. Brooks in "Terms Of Endearment" and "As Good As It Gets" shared the red carpet with another Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon. Paul Rudd, Kathryn Hahn and Owen Wilson rounded out the cast making the jaunt down the carpeta rojo.

It was also great to see Jane Fonda who had a health scare with breast cancer earlier in the year and at 72 still looks awesome anyone else remeber "Barbarella"? But I have to say that one cougar that still looks mighty fine is Marilu Henner at 58, she should do "Dancing With The Stars"

*Highlight of the evening was that tall drink of water Jennie Finch http://jenniefinch.com/ of the U.S. Olympic Softball Team, normally I am not into sports types but she is one exceptional athlete hubbahubba

Gwyneth Paltrow Star Ceremony

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow Honored With A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame
December 13, 2010 6931 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA.

Its' been said that musicians want to act and actors want to try their hand at making music, sometimes with success and other times with horrible results IE Justin Timberlake meet Joaquin Phoenix. So on this warm and sunny late morning the daughter of actress Blythe Danner and late television producer Bruce Paltrow; Gwyneth Paltrow is honored by her own merit with the 2,427th Star on the Legendary Hollywood Walk Of Fame http://www.hollywoodchamber.net/ right in front of Madame Tussauds Hollywood. Just on the eve of her premiere for "Country Strong" http://www.countrystrong-movie.com/. Costar Tim McGraw was present to give good thoughts about his experience working with Gwyneth and lucky for us he brought his hot wife Faith Hill!!!

Of course for all you Gleeks out there Matthew Morrison was there too!

But I have to say the only thing that really bothered me was that Gwyneth spent a good portion of the time staring at the floor and if I hear anyone say that dreaded word she is "shy" I am going to blow a gasket
*Highlight was just next door they were filming the Muppet Movie and I could swear I saw Kemit and Miss Piggy!!!! Oh and Jason Segel and Amy Adams were there too big deal...

Toys For Tots Hosted bt ASEF
December 11, 2010 ELXR, Hollywood, CA.

We've all done it in this business, doing favors for friends and collegues, sometimes it pans out but most of the time its' time you'll never get back. However I am always a sucker for pretty women and the event put on by Action Sports, Entertainment and Fashion promised Victoria's Secret Holiday Helpers over 50 models and Go-Go dancers I was all gunho. The evening was hosted by Cinemax "Lingerie" http://www.cinemax.com/afterdark/series/lingerie  star Jennifer Korbin http://www.jenniferkorbin.com/index2.html  X Game athlete Ronnie Faisst http://www.ronniefaisst.com/ and model Tabitha Taylor http://www.tabitha-taylor.com/

Unfortunately things did not go as planned with the groups of gorgeous gals MIA, however there were pleanty of U.S. Marines there to collect donations for the Toys For Tots program and a some notable people you may recognize from television like Harvey Walden from Celebrity Fit Club http://www.vh1.com/shows/celebrity_fit_club/season_7/series.jhtml

Rounding out the guest list were a couple of Playmates, Benchwarmer gals a few actors that you may recognize but may have trouble remembering their names and a whole flock of people I have never seen before.

The World Premiere of "TRON: Legacy"

The World Premiere of "TRON: Legacy"
December 11, 2010 El Capitan Theater, Hollywood, CA.

Tron: Legacy http://www.disney.co.uk/tron/index_flash.jsp#/home is a film I have been waiting a long time to see come to fruition after seeing the original back in 1982 in the theater with my dad. I liked everything about it, I even bought the Wendy Carlos soundtrack on album from Music Plus back in the day.  So when the original director Steven Lisberger announced that Tron 2.0 would be coming to a theater near you very soon at a screening and Q&A with Bruce Boxleitner and Cindy Morgan some 10 years ago I was excited. The project seemed dead in the water until they previewed a teaser clip at Comic-Con http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AwvuirSEAA a couple of years ago and now 2 years later the film is out! The coupe was getting Jeff Bridges to return I mean don't get me wrong I'm pleased as punch that Bruce is back too but its Kevin Flynn that bridges the gap between the new and the old. So when the day arrives for the premiere I know that Disney is going to pull out all the stops after all the House of Mouse spent a fortune on it already whats another million for publicity.

But before I talk about the premiere let me tell you about the e-mail Maya got from Disney that the pr people had planned to face paint a few of the fotogs to go with the theme of the movie. She figured "Yeah hes' a ham he'll do it", so she signed me up. I kinda figured if I got all painted up I could score a good spot despite the fact that it clearly said on the e-mail that getting your face painted did not guarantee a front row spot, what the hell I figured no one else would do it except maybe Byron Purvis and low and behold there he was in the makeup chair getting dolled up. Well Byron got the whole treatment I arrived just a little after 3:00 and he was in the makeup chair for about an hour and I got about 10 minutes a quick brush with the silver blush a quick square and out I went maybe I just wasn't pretty enough, sigh!

So with my new face paint and check in time rolling around we were put into spots but not before I asked Holly at Disney where she wanted Byron and I and she told us to go right in, sweet I got in a good spot! Next were a parade of Sirens hotties from the film but we had to futz with our flashes before we could start shooting because of the artificial fog that was created to make the lasers show more visible to the tourists watching from across the street not exactly conducive to us photographers though.
First from the cast bright and early was Bruce Boxleitner with his wife actress Melissa Gilbert their son Michael and his older sons from his 1st marriage. He was having a grand time posing with his memory disc and laughing it up. Following Bruce were costars Yaya Dacosta, Elizabeth Mathis, Anis Cheurfa, Beau Garrett, James Frain and baddie Michael Sheen. Then came the film's star Garrett Hedlund who was totally in awe of the whole spectacle but I think Olivia Wilde stole the show in her gorgeous golden gown. Director Joseph Kosinski was very serene compared to an enthusiastic Steven Lisberger proudly posing with his disc in triumph making way for the arrival of Kevin Flynn himself Jeff Bridges all shaggy and walking down the blue carpet with his wife Susan looking as he was on a cool trip. Bringing up the rear were the helmet wearing Frenchmen Daft Punk http://www.daftpunk.com/

*Highlight was when Jeff Bridges walked towards me and I told him and Susan "Greetings Programs!" this made him stop and smile and now I'm smiling.
